We are looking for excited volunteers to help design, run, and work Fling.con Board Game Convention.

Joe took up gaming at a very young age. Growing up playing Stratego, Chess and Risk and eventually saved enough money to purchase the original Axis and Allies. Gaming as an adult has been more than just accruing games, but also friends. He founded Fling.con off of inspiration from those friends. He is a husband of 23 years and a father of 4. Top 5 favorite games: War of the Ring, Eclipse, Hegemony, Legacies and U-Boot.

Kelvin is a Sheriff's Deputy with the Comal County Sheriff's Office. His love of board games was sparked while working in the Jail. He met Joe and agreed to try out Axis and Allies and it was all she wrote from there. He’s been hooked ever since. That was about 8 years ago. He doesn't really have a particular genre of game that he prefers. He really just enjoys the hobby and plays all the games he can. Top 5 games for me currently are Wonderland Wars, Carnegie, Brass Birmingham, Great Wall, Too Many Bones

Dave started playing board games in Oct of 2018 when a giant of a friend (Mr. Joe Fling) invited him to what he thought was going to be a game of chutes and ladders. Ended up playing Minerva and that sparked some interest. His first game purchase was Teotihucan: City of Gods, which he still love to this day. He lost all sense of control when the same friend introduced him to Kickstarter. Now he is crack deep into board games and loving it. He is a huge Queen's enthusiast and mostly enjoy mid-weight games, but he does play the occasional burn your brain Lacerda game. Currently he is playing Roll Player Adventure, Massive Darkness 2, Tiny Epic Dungeons, Lost Legends, and Thunderstone Advance.

Adam is a lifelong gamer and government medical research scientist who’s been rolling dice and strategizing since middle school games of Axis & Allies. Married to his amazing wife for over 25 years, he’s the proud dad of three wonderful kids adopted from China. Adam loves bringing people of all ages together around the table, whether it’s teaching a modern classic or exploring the latest release. His all-time favorites include Brass: Birmingham, Terraforming Mars, Ark Nova, Bruges, and Dune: Imperium, but he’s always ready to discover a new favorite. If you see him at the next Fling.Con, ask him to teach you a game! Just make sure you let him play with purple unless you want your pieces accidentally moved....

Nate landed on this planet decades ago and decided to stay. So much more to learn about History, Culture and Art! Just a few years ago he started attending public board game gatherings in Austin and became a community organizer. Exploring various game designs and meeting so many friendly people are the main reasons he is now a lifelong board gamer. FlingCon is a major contributor to those reasons. With a focus on lighter and medium weight games, you’ll likely find him teaching a rotation of his killer fillers at a table near you!
Top Games: Mantis, Flip 7, Dice Miner, Kingdomino and Champions of Midgard.

Hello FlingCon Attendees!!! Like it says my name is John. I am 46yrs young, and I am a Healthcare worker by trade. I have been married to my wife Sarah, going on 23yrs. We do not have any children but that is by design.
When I was younger I was introduced to Dungeon & Dragons and played that for many years. I dabbled in Magic the Gathering in the mid 90’s- early 00’s. I have been playing modern board Games since around 2003. The game that hooked me into modern gaming was The Lord of the Rings TCG. I have met so many wonderful people through gaming. My favorite games are Hegemony and Five Tribes. I’m also a big fan of most Uwe Rosenberg and Stefan Feld titles.
Thank you for trusting all of us with your FlingCon gaming experience. I look forward to meeting/playing games with as many attendees as possible.

Laura's board gaming journey began when her mother played Acquire while pregnant, and Laura has been playing ever since. Games with family and friends are some of her most precious memories. She loves to play in tournaments across the country and in leagues on Board Game Arena, especially for Ark Nova, Cascadia, and Castles of Burgundy.

Wes is an old school gamer. He began with RPGs at the age of 13 and has continued gaming since. His favorite continues to be RPG and RPG Table Top gaming, but he thoroughly enjoys games of all styles. His favorites include: Settlers of Catan, Carcassone, Power Grid, Puerto Rico, Robo Rally, and Flux. Always ready to try something new, the one thing that is for sure is that Wes is not done learning and enjoying new games.

Lucky husband to the beautiful Heather. Blessed father of four. Lifelong player of games. Eclipse New Dawn for the Galaxy was the game that really got him into the hobby. Loves to learn new and old games alike, from crunch Euros to light party games. Grateful to all who share something they’ve learned with him. Happy to share what he’s learned with whoever asks. Don’t hesitate to ask questions, just be prepared that the first answer is always “42”.

Micah is a user experience designer of healthcare technology with her love of designing and solving problems for complex systems drawing her deeper into board gaming and eventually to the FlingCon staff.
Her goal as a staffer is simple: Help everything run smoothly behind the scenes so attendees can focus on what matters most – the games and the community around the tables. She supports the crew on the technical and creative side, keeping things running and looking great.
Her gaming tastes are all over the map in the best way. She loves the quiet satisfaction of Azul, the card play of Wingspan, and the chaos of a well-timed 5-Minute Dungeon sprint. If it has clever design and a great table feel, she is in.
Top Games: Space Base, Wingspan, Azul, Century: Spice Road, Terraforming Mars

Jason is a UX designer by day and a tabletop enthusiast whenever he can get away with it. He moved to San Antonio three years ago from Kansas City, where his board game hobby quietly escalated from a couple of titles on the shelf to a collection of 200-ish (emphasis on the "ish"). He brings his design and technology background to the FlingCon technical staff, helping make sure the experience runs smoothly from the moment you arrive. He loves games that reward clever engine-building and keep the energy at the table high — the kind where you're grinning at your own combo as much as you're watching everyone else's. When he's not pushing meeples around or terraforming planets, you'll likely find him in the kitchen experimenting with a new cuisine and cooking for anyone willing to pull up a chair. He's passionate about both in the same way — finding the perfect combination of elements that makes the whole thing come together. He's thrilled to be part of the FlingCon team alongside his wife and fellow staffer, Micah.
Favorite games: Space Base, Valley of the Kings, Terraforming Mars, Carcassonne, and Heat: Pedal to the Metal.

Suzanne grew up as an only child, so playing games was a little tricky. In college, she started her collection of party games to play in the dorm. When she started dating her now husband, her gaming career picked up significantly! He comes from a big family that plays games all the time. Even after 20 years of being married, all of the siblings each bring several games to family gatherings. And now we have too many games to fit on the shelves in our game room. Besides gaming, Suzanne has several interesting hobbies – since getting a degree in Meteorology, she’s always interested in the weather, she loves baking, hiking national parks, recently began a collection of rocks from the Great Lakes to polish in her new rock tumbler, and plays handbells (yep – the ones you think of at Christmastime) in a few different choirs in San Antonio. Her game interests are pretty diverse – if it has cute bits or a quirky theme, she’s probably in! Her current favorite games are: Windmill Valley, Forest Shuffle, Patchwork, Ark Nova, Dutch Blitz and GoNuts for Donuts.

When I was a teen, I remember playing Risk with one of my parents, and playing Stratego as a kid. I only recently got back into gaming. My sibling got me reacquainted with gaming by introducing me to Settlers of Catan. I have two children, and I love how playing board games is a bonding experience that they both can enjoy. Since watching Stranger Things, the middle schooler and his friends have asked me to DM a DND game, which I have successfully done. My partner is also interested in board games, and they provide a nice escape from the digital world and a way to unwind. However, we do enjoy playing board games online as well. I am an Instructional Designer by trade, so the instructions are always my favorite part, as my children know. I am aware that sounds weird. The games I am currently enjoying the most are: Heat, Dice Throne, and Flamecraft.
